Colombo, Dec 30 (PTI) Sri Lanka made wholesale changes to their one day squad, dropping veteran all-rounder Sanath Jayasuriya, paceman Lasith Malinga and spinner Ajantha Mendis from their 15-member team for next month’s tri-nations series in Bangladesh, also featuring India.

A moderate tremor measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was felt in the Bangladeshi capital city Dhaka and many other places of the country on Tuesday evening, a senior official said. Assistant Director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department Md Shahidul Islam told Xinhua Tuesday, “The quake was felt at 4:01:52 p.m. local time in Dhaka and many other places.”

Vietnamese telecom company Viettel wants to tie up with Bangladeshi state-owned mobile company Teletalk and join other foreign entrants in the fast-growing South Asian market, a minister said last Saturday. About 50 percent of Bangladesh’s adult population carry tuberculosis bacteria, but very few of them carry active germs as the bacteria remain in hidden form, leading English newspaper The Daily Star reported on Monday. Fahim Ahmed Chowdhury of Brac Health Program, a non-governmental organization, revealed this Sunday, urging the government to step up preventive measures to control the disease.
