Asia is a continent. Bangladesh is a country, different from India. People from Israel, Russia and Turkey can be “Asians”.

Good question.
They are actually considered Asian. India is a Sub Continent in Asia.
Bangladesh is right beside India so I suppose some would consider them Indian. In technical terms tho they are Asian.
Hope this helped =]

India is a country. Technically speaking, only people from the country of India are “Indians”. The race you are thinking of is called “Dravidian”.
In the U.S.A., we tend to (incorrectly) refer to all Dravidians as “Indians”, whether or not they come from India. Likewise in the U.K., they refer to Dravidians as “Pakistanis”, whether or not they come from Pakistan.
People from Bangladesh, by and large, are of the Dravidian race.
India is part of Asia, so technically, Dravidians are considered to be “Asians”.
Again, in the U.S.A. we incorrectly use the term “Asian” as a synonym for “Oriental” (even that isn’t totally correct – the “Orient” was originally a term that referred to Persia and Iraq). We refer to people from Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, etc. as “Asian”.
The answer you are looking for is that people from Bangladesh are considered to be Dravidian (Indian), and although they are technically Asian, they are not considered to be “Oriental”.

the only people reffered to as indian in the world are people from india or native americans. so if Bangladesh has anything to do with that then yes they are indian, if not then asian.

india is a country lying on the continent of asia; west paki and east bengal were partitioned from india in 1947, east bengal becoming east paki in 1955, and became bangladesh in 1971

Hi I am from Bangladesh and we are called “Bangladeshi” like you call other nationals American, British, German, Chinese, Japanese etc.
We are very much part of ASIA. South-Asia to be specific. Bangladesh was part of Pakistan till 1971 when we fought a bitter war against the Pakistani occupation forces and liberated our country with the help of India, who helped Bengalees (we used to be called Bengali people, before it was decided that we would be known as Bangladeshi) for their own strategic interest to weaken Pakistan who were eyesore for India since its separation from British-India back in August 1947.
So, if you consider historical events then we can say once upon a time Pakistan, Bangladesh and India were together as one country till 1947. Then Bangladesh got separated from Pakistan in 1971. All three are Asian and sovereign countries now.
Hope above helps.

Bangladesh and Pakistan used to be part of India until they were separated in 1947. Bangladeshi people are Asian and honestly even I can’t tell them apart from Indians because we are related and brothers. What mainly separated us was religion not race.
