What is CIPS qualification?
The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is a UK based international organization (www.cips.org) serving the purchasing and supply profession. CIPS exists to promote and develop high standards of professional skill, ability and integrity among all those engaged in purchasing and supply chain management. CIPS assists individuals, organisations and the profession as a whole. CIPS ‘ladder’ of qualifications provides benchmark education programmes for the purchasing and supply profession throughout the world.

The IGS Advantage & Resource Persons
IGS teamed up with CIPS, UK in 2010 to offer CIPS training programme to public sector participants of Bangladesh Government. Under this collaboration IGS sponsored procurement trainers were taught by Master Trainers of CIPS, UK to prepare them to take CIPS study support classes. The Trainers, who will take CIPS Exam Support Classes, are CIPS certified national procurement experts of Bangladesh and have successfully completed TOT programme conducted by CIPS, UK. IGS is now rolling out the CIPS training programme for procurement, purchasing and supply chain professionals.

Programme Structure
As a part time programme (evening and week end classes), IGS will start with Level-4 courses to prepare participants to sit for CIPS examinations and will later offer Level 5 and 6 courses.

Each participant will take five courses each in Level 4, 5 and 6 i.e. a total of fifteen courses. After passing Level 4 they will qualify for Foundation Diploma and after Level 5 they will be given Advanced Diploma both by CIPS, UK. Participants will have to pass examination for each of the five courses in Level 4, 5 and 6 to qualify for the coveted MCIPS qualification.

The CIPS qualifications are given by CIPS, UK and the role of the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) as an approved study and exam center of CIPS, first of its kind in Bangladesh and South Asia, is to facilitate the learning process and to assist students to successfully pass the CIPS exams with support classes.

You must have studied English at school, college and/or university. But you may not have had the need to use it to become proficient in it.

My question to you – Do you now want to become proficient in this language? Would it help in building your career if you could speak English fluently and read, write and understand English as if it was your native language?

If the answer is “yes” then take the first step by creating an imaginary English environment among your friends, family and colleagues. Just believe that in this environment nobody understands anything but English. You are to carry out all communication in English all the time. You have to speak to others in English and listen to others who speak English. You also have to pretend that all reading materials, i.e., newspapers, magazines, story books and text books available to you are in English. You will not read materials in any other language. You should also write only in English, both for your private and official communication.
Initially you may have some difficulty and may struggle a bit and say,”Why?”.

You may be tempted to switch to your native language. But if you persist, slowly but surely, you will overcome these little problems and you will be able to communicate in English as easily as you do in your native language.
