If you have read the current Budget proposal for the FY 2007-08 then you may notice that the reconditioned (used) Car Dealers / Agents have been proposed to get better ‘discount’ to their customers.
You would not get this advantage if you do self-import. This would be the reason for you to import through any local agent / dealer in Bangladesh.
You may save money if you Import new cars since the above mentioned discount is not applicable in that case. However, it is seen that somehow the local agents of the (new) cars could offer better price than the Principal Company would offer you, for obvious reason to keep their D/Ds network intact and functioning professionally.

due to the fact that this is seen as a agricultural project there are a lot of tax exclusions and benefits available contact the revenue office in bd to discuss further

I c u guys r nt getting any real answers so let me help you.The first thing is taxes depends mainly on the engine capacity (CC) and the chassis number is also important,basically expect arnd 175%-225% on 1500cc-1800cc sedans and 250%-300% on upto 2500CC and it will cost close to 350% for 3500cc and above that is 400% the percentage is calculated from the price of the car in the proforma invoice…….duties are slightly lesser for brand new cars but in terms of money u ve to pay more as brand new cars cost a lot more than recondition ones.I personally recommend buying a car of nt more than 2000cc as it is a rip off…..cuz the govt. is taking so much taxes on cars and our road development in bd is zero…so whts the point us paying so much……..hell i used to spend 2 hrs in my car while travelling from kakrail 2 gulshan!!! gimme a knock if u guys need anymore help

you dont have to pay much only the heandling fees at the port as long you hold french passport but you have to bring your car back within 3 years other wise you will have to pay full tax which works out almost 1 coror
