Pohela Boishakh 1415 (Bangla New Year), 14th April 2008

By , 0 views

WE celebrate Pahela Baishakh or the Bangla New Year’s Day today (14th April 2008). Poila Boishakh (Bengali: পহেলা বৈশাখ ) is the first day of the Bangla Calendar. Poila Boishakh is celebrated in a festive manner in both Bangladesh and West Bengal, as well as by Bengali people in Tripura. Hence, Poila Boishakh connects all ethnic Bengalis irrespective of religious and regional differences. In Bangladesh, Poila Boishakh is a national holiday and in West Bengal it is a public holiday. It falls on April 14 or April 15 of the Gregorian calendar depending on the use of the new amended or the old Bangla calendar respectively. In Bangladesh, it is celebrated on April 14 according to the official amended calendar designed by the Bangla Academy. Poila Boishakh is also known as Nôbobôrsho (নববর্ষ), or Bengali New Year, as it is the first day of the first month of Boishakh in the Bengali calendar. This day is a very festive time for Bengalis. I wish you all the best in this Bangla New Year…enjoy… For more info: en.wikipedia.org www.virtualbangladesh.com

just 6000yrs ago upanishads were written by yogi(rishis)that translated into rabindra and hindu culture >sanatan dharma >its amazing to see that BANGLADESHI NOW REALIZES AFTER 1971,relieved from pakistan; NO ARABIC OR ISLAMIC CULTURE CAN DELIVER THIS GRACE AND BEAUTY. BENGALI IS AN EXPRESSION OF SANSKRIT AND PALI >HINDUS REFINED IT TO THE SOUL>AMAZING IGNORANCE AND RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY WERE PUSHING THEM TO ARBIC CULTURE>CHEESE TO CHALK.

Bangla New Year (Nobo Borshou) is growing into a global annual event from it’s roots in Bangladesh. In 190 countries of the world where Bengali Probash is found there will be a Shahid Minar, Pohela Boishakh, 21st February, Eid ……

No other Asian nationality has so much rich cultural heritage as Bengali people, apart from the Chinese. We should share our culture with others in our adopted homelands.

Thank you LABONNO for the video. Please put up more month by month about other events.
