Q&A: How big is Bangladesh’s part in the human contributions to global warming?
By , 0 viewsQuestion asked by Shinade: How big is Bangladesh’s part in the human contributions to global warming?
I want to know what sort of part does Bangladesh play in the cause of Global Warming, i know it’s not a huge part but I need to talk about how it is not a big contributor to global warming but it is badly affected by it. Any figures would be good.

The Bangladeshi energy consumption is a good indicator of direct contributions to global warming. The per capita consumption is about 161 kg of oil equivalent per year. The comparable US consumption is 7778 kg.

However, to be fair, the indirect contribution from products and services consumed by Bangladesh should also be considered. For example, if a North American develops a technology, and X% of the resulting technology is sold in Bangladesh, then X% of the North American carbon footprint from that activity should be allocated to Bangladesh. This will include not only the immediate inputs of goods and services, but also the resources spent over the full career of the scientists involved in the development. Bangladesh’s indirect carbon footprint may be larger than its direct footprint.

Being as the sun is 99.999% of global warming and currently for the last 3 years the sun has been in a severe solar minimum I would say Bangladesh is very lucky that is is in a semi tropical climate zone that will remain fairly warm during the coming global cool down.

The last decade has seen average global temperatures drop by 0.1C. The recent scandal where the CRU (climate research unit) have had email leaked showing the scientists discussing how to present the temperature data in a way that will disguise the temperature drop, is proof that the temperature decline is real. Why would they have to hide it if the cooling wasn’t there.

There is no global warming at the present, not for ten years or so in fact.
