One positive impact is that alluvium floods the fields (river floods) which makes them more fertile and is essential for farming,
negatives are salt water (coastal flooding) flattens and kills crops, breaks up fishing boats so people cannot fish, tidal floods kill fresh-water fish, drowns livestock, etc.

- They built earth embankments to prevent flooding, but thhis can actually speed up course of river and stop fields getting fertile deposits- good for use near cities though.
- they have built flood shelters called 'Killas' which people can go to with their possesions and animals so lives are saved
- They have improved forecasting by using satellite imaging, so give people earlier warnings of flooding.

hope it helps :)
