bengali, bangladeshi, asian, muslim, this is what i call them.

there is a BIG difference between a bangladeshi and a bengali. bengali is an ethnic group native to the bengal region, of india(west bengal) and bangladesh(east bengal)

a bangladeshi is any person from bangladesh(not india). a chakma, mizo,(mongols in south asia) can be bangladeshi but not an ethnic bengali.

so bengalis can be from india or bangladesh while bangladeshis are only from bangladesh

i once heard pakistanis call them machi (fish) twhich is mean and offensive.
they are a country next to india and burma. bangladeshis are mostly muslims with a small hindu population. you can also call them south asian, or desi.

The people from Bangladesh are referred to as “Bangladeshi”, or erroneously, “Bengali”. “Bangladeshi” is a denoymn.
