Most of the politicians managed to produce offspring and raise them to be future leaders of Bangladesh. They used to send their kids to Darjeeling and then some posh school and colleges in India when Bangladesh got liberated and people had less money.

In later years (particularly since 1991) the politicians sent their wards to Western countries among which US ranked first followed by Australia, Canada, UK and such countries where the lingua franca is English.

During these periods politicians pocketed hefty commissions from 'Tadbir' and sometimes participating in Tenders where they would inflate the cost of the item/project and also engage their own firm as 'Consultant' to milk more money.

Recently we can see that leftist politicians who were sidelined in the past 28-years also got under the umbrella of the 'Mohajote' led by the present ruling party - Awami League (AL) and are inducted as Minister or Parliamentary Standing Committee Members/head and such places where they can also get some share, if they like.

Given the fact that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politicians outnumbered the AL politicians in terms of thievery, we can assume that within next 5-years the corruption by politicians may slightly decrease. But the way AL is conducting immediately after their ascension to power by unleashing their Student Wing (BCL) to 'capture' lucrative deals and places and what-not, the time is not far away when AL government would equal last BNP led government in making Bangladesh 'champion' on the perception-index of Transparency International.

AL lost many golden chances to steer this unlucky country of ours out of its miseries right from the inception, but the heavy-handed ad 'winner-takes-all' attitudes of its past and present government always ensures that AL simmers in its own created filths.

So, your comment like ". . . but the politicians has taken this support for granted come what may. . . " is 100% accurate as far as our politicians are concerned, and for that matter pols of the developing countries have similar syndrome of megalomania and resorting to deceitful tactic with their opponents as well as with the citizen.

PS. We need to send our politicians to India (to minimise the expenses of sending them to Germany or Switzerland or Scandinavian countries) so that they can learn from their counterparts on how to love own country and not to spread rumours to undermine own country and most of all how to govern efficiently. You can not hope to change their personal trait like learning not to speak in the venomous sentences and not to steal and also not to do nepotism, since these are deeply ingrained in the body and mind of our politicians those we are to live with.

Hope above would suffice.
